A MAN’S GUIDE TO CORPORATE WORLD
In 1982, when my mom was close to the age I am now, young women were entering the workforce in far greater numbers. Corporate environments were still vastly dominated by men, especially in positions of power. And it was common to come across the books like the one published that year, “Women at Work - The Essential Guide to Working Women.”
This was, of course, more than 2 decades before I was born. But the irony was not lost on me when I came across a recently published book titled “The Man’s Guide to Corporate Culture”! The book’s subtitle promises men to be “A practical guide to the new normal and relating to female co-workers in the modern workplace.”
I must admit to feeling a set of mixed emotions about this remarkable contrast. Do men really need such a guide? After thinking about it, I decided on balance that this is a significant milestone in our progress to equality. After all, if a guide to men in companies is in need, this is Change indeed.
